How to Shoot Video That Doesn't Suck

As I mentioned in the Video Liberty forums, I've been meaning to read this book for quite awhile, but put it off for various reasons. This month I decided I would read it, and I'm really glad I did. For total beginners and for pros who may need to "sharpen the saw" a bit, this book makes it clear that your videos must work to grab and keep the audience, because they are always tempted to move on to something more entertaining (where "entertaining" does not necessarily mean "amusing" -- it's not about sacrificing meaning just to get some slapstick laughs). As I was reading it, I also saw how relevant it was to writing; while "audience" expectations are different in written works, many of the concepts in this book can be directly applied to writing.

If you want to create videos that people actually want to watch and even recommend to others, get this book and read it!
